Joel received his Real Estate license in 1976 and was an Assistant Manager with Walker & Lee Realty. In 1980, Joel obtained his Brokers license and was Branch Manager for Strout Realty. He opened his own office MJC Realty in Orange, California in 1982.
In 1985, Mr. Carlson opened Carrington Mortgage Services which was sold in 1995 to establish MJC Financial, a more diversified lending company. In 2000, GLR Homes was established to build single family homes in the Inland Empire and built more than 100 homes. Joel is past President of the Realtors Commercial Alliance of Orange County (RIAOC) and broker/owner of MJC Realty with 5 offices.
Joel graduated from Chapman University and got his RECI (Real Estate Certificate Institute) in 1980 from Santa Ana College. Joel obtained his GRI (Graduate, Realtor Institute) in 1982 and his CREC (Certified Real Estate Consultant) from the American College in 1984. In 1992, Joel became a Master Instructor for the California Association of Realtors. And, in 1994, Joel qualified for his DREI (Designated Real Estate Instructor) from the National Association. Joel also has a Life Credential to teach at California Community Colleges. Joel is currently teaching Real Estate Practice at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).
Joel has maintained his involvement with the Real Estate industry as a member of the California Association of REALTORS (CAR), the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) and as also achieved REALTOR Emeritus with NAR. He is Past President of California Association of Real Estate Educators and Past president of the REALTOR Commercial Alliance of Orange County (RCAOC). Joel also has served as a Director for the Newport Beach Association of REALTORS as well as Education Chair for the 32nd District of CAR.
